Reunited And It Feels So Good!
Why SEO and web development go hand in hand and why it is crucial for your business.
“Things take time” is the name of the game when it comes to SEO. You can thoroughly optimize your website but nothing takes effect for weeks, maybe even months. I like to compare SEO to a slab of pork shoulder thrown into a crock pot. It not much at first. It’s a slow simmering process of the good-ole waiting game…but then, wallah, the wait is over and you have an amazing, tender, tasty, pulled pork ready for all sorts of dishes. Okay, I went a little overboard there, probably because it’s lunch time and I’m getting a little #hangry.
Let me break it down for all you non-foodies out there: The pork shoulder and seasonings are your website, the crockpot is Google and the ready to serve pulled pork is your end goal of being ranked organically higher on a Google search.
But what happens if your crockpot/ ingredients are of bad quality… it’s almost impossible to make a great pot of pulled pork. You are setting yourself up for failure.
Bad Crockpot + Bad Ingredients = Bad Pulled Pork
AKA
Bad Web Development + Bad SEO = Bad Google Rankings (Very Bad for Business)
This is where web development plays a crucial role for SEO. Say for example you are ranked number #2 on a Google search. From the SEO perspective you are looking pretty good. You wake up one morning and say to yourself, “Hey I think it is time to update our website!”. So you hire a web developer you find on craigslist for a few hundred bucks. The web developer does their magic and abracadabra, you have a new and pretty website. Months later you notice you are no longer in the #2 spot in a Google search, matter of fact, you are not even on the first page – Ohh the horror!!!
Your bad organic ranking continues on and you start to notice a few changes. Business has slowed down and your revenue is decreasing. Since you are no longer showing up on the first page of Google search, you are not getting any traffic, therefore not gaining any business. But you wonder how, and why.
Come to find out, that web developer you hired months ago did not properly code your sites CSS, PHP, HTML’s, etc. Google has placed your site much lower on a search page due to improper web development. To fix this can take weeks and for Google to notice it can take months. You have put yourself in a very deep hole and wonder how your business will survive.
Moral of the story is, make sure you have good ingredients! Here at Act Bold, our Team of Web Developers are highly educated and trained to make sure your website is exceptionally Google friendly. But the real question is— what’s for lunch? Until next time -The Jackie Department
